BALMAIN X H&M

NOVEMBER 2015

H&M and Balmain’s luxe-meets-mass collaboration played with highlights from Balmain’s first eight seasons under Olivier Rousteing’s creative leadership, creating a retrospective range that made very clear that Rousteing and his team had managed to construct a unique, recognizable Balmain DNA within a very short period of time. Long lines, excitement and a rapid sell-out of the entire collection helped prove that the historic Parisian house's new style and attitude was something that young consumers across the world were hungry for.

Balmain's womenswear and menswear collections for H&M were rich in detail and craftsmanship, encapsulating the themes and signatures that have made Balmain one of the most important luxury brands of the 21st century. Olivier Rousteing has brought his passion for design to every piece in the collections.

To celebrate the collaboration, H&M and Balmain released an original music video starring Kendall Jenner taking part in a dynamic dance battle in a futuristic subway controlled by Olivier Rousteing himself.

“This is for the new H&M Balmain Nation, a complete collection that can be worn by different men and women on different continents, all part of the same world. I wanted to stay true to the DNA of Balmain, richly detailed, powerful and yet effortless”
